Job Summary

We are looking for skilledSERVERSto join the Jakes Del Mar team! The starting rate is $16.90/hr plus tips (The combined rate is up to $25-$50/hour). We are especially looking for candidates who are available to work on Sundays. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Minimum three days of availability required. Other scheduling availability is subject to review upon application.


New Servers are required to work in support positions - Expo / Food Runner Cocktail Runner Back Server - for their probationary period prior to Server training. This probationary period can range from 30-90 days depending on the employees success and skill in these support positions and may be extended due to business needs or employees performance.

PREFERRED / REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • US Work Authorization Required. We useE-Verify to confirm Employment Eligibility Verification.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Experience:Six months to one year related experience
  • Computer Skills:Experience with Point of Sale System.
  • Certificates & Licenses:Must take and pass all training tests 90% or higher.
  • California Food Handler Certificate- Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid California Food Handler Certificate.
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certificate- Must be obtained within 30 days from hire date. Training provided if applicant does not have a valid RBS Certification.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.


POSITION SUMMARY

Assist Servers in providing the highest level of quality and service to our guests by being responsible for all preparation interaction and steps of service needed to exceed guest expectations in the restaurant.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Assist in preparing restaurant for service.
  • Greet all guests and co-workers in a warm personal friendly manner.
  • Review menus with guests and answer questions about menu items offering descriptions and making recommendations. Inform guests of daily specials including pricing if not listed on the menu. Explain how various menu items are prepared describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Follow T S protocol and inform manager on duty for all noted guest allergies.
  • Take guests food and beverage orders and enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Check guests identification to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcohol.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests taking extra care to perform any additional table-side preparation or service as required.
  • Describe and recommend wines to guests; bring selection to table with appropriate glasses and pour.
  • Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables and take them to kitchen for cleaning. Prepare table for next guest.
  • Prepare certain hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages for guests.
  • Perform food preparation duties as required such as preparing side salads and desserts. Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving as required.
  • Prepare and present guest checks ensuring any special requests are followed (such as split checks) and collect corresponding payments.
  • Assist the entire service team throughout meal period to ensure all guest expectations are exceeded.
  • Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee food tableware and linens.
  • Fill salt pepper sugar cream condiment and napkin containers.
  • Must be dependable report to work as scheduled and on time and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns; personal employee or guest injury.
  • Follow food safety program guidelines of handwashing bare hands hygiene and health.
