ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT :
In WFP room for improvement in workplace culture and ethical climate was identified following the 2018 Global Staff Survey (GSS) and other assessments. One of the responses to the challenges was to develop and implement the Comprehens ive Action Plan (CAP) a plan to move WFP towards a workplace free of harassment sexual harassment abuse of power and discrimination through a set of initiatives and activities .
The RESPECT-campaign was included in the CAP init iat ives and activities as one of the tools available within WFP to create tangible and visible change within the the context of the CAP the RESPECT campaign has gone through a revision of the content with key stakeholders such as the Office of the Ombudsman and HR Staff Relations and a partial digitalization.
In 2020 the digital version - Respect - was born in order to adapt to restrictions imposed by the COVID pandemic. From 2022 Respect is one of the flagship initiatives of the Organizational Culture Team of the People and Culture Coordination Unit.
Respect helps us engage in meaningful conversat ions through fun activities on how we as individuals and as a team can nurture and sustain a great workplace for everyone. It also anchors and reinforce our new WFP corporate values and offers a great opportunity for everyone to be more connected to each other and discuss how to Improve and promote a respectful and positive work environment.
The programme is based on four pillars - Awareness Inclusion Fairness and Humanity . The approach is informal and fun creating an egalitarian environment in which to discuss and explore our collective identity as humanitarians and help everyone understand that WFP has zero tolerance for abusive conduct racism and any forms of discrimination or unacceptable behavior.
The recommended implementation arrangements include:
Strong ownership and commitment of the management of the office (RD DRD CD DCD or Director) to implement the campaign.
Appointment of a Local Lead Facilitator and Local Co-facilitators.
Availability of support from Senior RESPECT Facilitators in the local implementation .
ACCOUNTABILITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance and coordination of the Organizational Culture Team the Senior RESPECT Facilitator is responsible for supporting the local delivery of RESPECT Programme. To this end the Senior RESPECT Facilitator - requested by the local implementation teams of offices:
1) Advises and mentors the Local Lead Facilitator and the local implementation team
a. Provides guidance to the Local Lead Facilitator in the design and carrying out the local implementation part icular
Advices on a balanced composition of the implementation team.
Supports in assessing the training needs and in conduct of training to co-facilitators as needed.
Advices on preparation of the implementation plan and addressing issues with implementation.
b. Supports the Local Lead Facilitator in actual facilitation of the session as needed
c. Supports the Local Lead Facilitator to consolidate and report final feedback and outcomes of the implementation of Pillar I.
d. Performs other duties as and when required to ensure a successful implementation.
Note: The Senior RESPECT Facilitators are not intended to support the local implementation team in practical arrangements such as scheduling invitations etc. but to serve in an advisory and supporting role for the local implementation.
Requirements - Senior RESPECT Facilitator:
Expert understanding of and interest in workplace culture related issues and behavioural change
Prior experience in facilitating and coordinating workplace culture related campaigns and initiatives or other global change initiatives
Experience in providing guidance advice and mentoring to expert audience Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Prior knowledge of RESPECT-campaign is desirable
Full Fluency (level C) in English language.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language
