AboutThe Position
The Assistant Technologist is primarily responsible for training researchers in chromatography techniques and sample preparation ensuring safe practices and user competency. The role also involvesmaintainingand developing documentation coordinating equipment maintenance and delivering training acrossadditionalanalytical methods.Strong communicationand collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders are essential.
This position requiresdemonstratedproficiencyin gaschromatographysample preparation and laboratory operations alongside strong problem-solving capability and a commitment to health and safety compliance. Supporting multidisciplinary research within the STEM College the role demands adaptability and the ability to effectively engage and train researchers from diverse backgrounds.
To be successful in this positionyoullhave:
Demonstrated experience and understanding of the operation maintenance and training of users onchromatography techniques with an emphasis ongas chromatography
Demonstrated experience and general understanding of a range ofsamplespreparation techniques forchromatography
Significant general laboratory operations and maintenance experience preferably within ananalytical instrumentationlab.
Effectivescientific communication and good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
Understanding of and experience in applying knowledge of Health Safety and Wellbeing legislation in a laboratory environment ensuring laboratory user compliance.
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills highlyorganised and the ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
