WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a Senior Professional Media Relations who will support the development and execution of media relations strategies that strengthen Converses brand presence across Los Angeles and globally. The candidate will drive engaging storytelling and experiences to help Converse reach new audiences and amplify the brands reach. This individual will be key to creating and driving cultural impact and influence for the brand through an ecosystem of media creators sport entertainment and culture in Los Angeles and nationally.
This individual should bring strong communication skills an understanding of the ever evolving traditional and non-traditional media landscape and the ability to build relationships with journalists influencers emerging platforms and key external partners. They would benefit from having a passion for sport fashion and music an ability to deliver new ways of thinking and a desire to deepen and evolve Converses presence acrosssport culture and musicin one of the brands most critical cities.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Serve as the day-to-day lead for LA-specific media engagement ensuring local relevance while maintaining global consistency.
Support the development and execution of audience-oriented media relations strategies for the LA market and global initiatives in support of storytelling around new product launches and key sports and culture moments.
Activate consumer-focused communications strategies to build momentum where the brand has the greatest opportunity to shape conversation with youth culture.
Build and maintain relationships with LA-based media creators influential voices and external communities and partners.
Identify and forge strategic local partnerships and event collaborations that enhance visibility and connect the brand to cultural moments.
Contribute to global events when necessary working closely with teammates in NYC and Boston.
Support proactive and reactive media engagement across brand product and cultural moments.
Draft press materials including releases statements media alerts and Q&A documents.
Monitor media coverage cultural trends and industry news to inform communication strategies.
Support media training briefing materials and preparation for spokesperson interviews.
Maintain media lists coverage reports and communication workflows.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will be part of the Converse Media Relations team an extension of the Global Communications team and report directly to Media Relations Director Converse NYC and LA.
You will work closely with communications teammates in NYC and Boston.
You will partner with LA-based Marketing Entertainment and Brand teammates to build and activate Los Angeles as a cultural engine for the brand.
You will engage with external agencies journalists media creators and community partners.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelors degree in Marketing Public Relations or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education experience and training.
3 years of experience in media relations public relations communications or related fields.
Strong writing communication and media engagement skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.
Understanding of media landscape cultural trends and brand storytelling.
Experience supporting media campaigns or consumer communications.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Passion for communications and the Converse brand.
Experience partnering with agencies; LA media and communication networks with an emphasis on athletes and sports.
Strong understanding of the traditional and nontraditional media landscape in Los Angeles including the multihyphenate reality of the market (freelancers podcasters creators and emerging platforms).
Culturally curious sport obsessed having an eye for design and trends and deep understanding of Los Angeles popular culture is a must.
