Safe Passagesis a non-profit organization based in Oakland CA. We work to improve the lives of children youth and families through education programs community partnerships and public advocacy. We are looking for passionate motivated and dedicated individuals like you to join our AmeriCorps program for a year of servicestarting inAugust2026.
AmeriCorps members serve at school sites in Oakland and Emeryville in teams of 3 to 10. Members are trained to provide tutoring and mentoring to students in Reading Writing and Math. Nopreviousteaching experience is necessaryjust a passion for working with youthandmaking a difference.Check out our website to learn more about our program and what to expect.
Safe Passages is looking for compassionate motivated individuals to serve asAmeriCorps Elev8 Memberssupporting K12 students in building confidence resilience andsocialemotional learning.
Responsibilities(Your Impact):
Support studentsuccessbyprovidingtutoring and education to K-12 studentson subjects such asReadingWriting andMath.
Build meaningful positive connections with students through mentorship and dailyengagementthatsupportstudentsacademic and social-emotional growth.
Lead creativeandengaginglesson plansactivities games and projectswithstudents.
Collaborate withSafe Passagesstaff teachers schoolstaffand otherAmeriCorpsmembers.
Support school events family engagement nights and community projects.
Assistin collecting and tracking data on outreach efforts and student support services.
Participate inregulartrainings team meetings and professional developmenttoenhanceskills incommunity outreacheducation youth development and leadership.

Experienceworking with and respect for diverse communities and backgrounds
Desired Qualifications(Bonus Skills):
Experience in teaching tutoringor youth development
Demonstrated commitment to community service
Bilingual or multilingual skills (highly valued)
Eligibility Requirements:
Must pass criminal history check (FBI DOJ NSOPW)searches
Proof of tuberculosis clearance
High school diploma or equivalent
Proof ofU.S. citizenshipor legal permanent residentstatus
Commitment to full term of service
Must be 17 attimeofservicestart
