Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Civil & Structural Discipline Manager to lead a team of engineers and designers supporting the delivery of complex energy and industrial projects.
This role is responsible for the overall performance of the Civil & Structural discipline including technical excellence resource management quality of deliverables and contribution to project execution and business growth.
The Discipline Manager operates at the intersection of engineering execution and organizational leadership ensuring that the discipline consistently delivers safe high-quality and predictable outcomes while developing the capabilities of its people.
Key Responsibilities
Discipline Leadership & Accountability
- Own the performance of the Civil & Structural discipline including quality delivery utilization and technical consistency.
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for execution accountability and performance across the team.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for discipline-related outcomes on projects.
Technical Authority & Governance
- Act as Technical Authority for Civil & Structural Engineering with responsibility for standards methods and technical quality.
- Approve and govern technical work ensuring alignment with AECOM management standards and project requirements.
- Lead resolution of complex technical issues and provide guidance on critical decisions.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead mentor and develop a team of engineers and designers fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Manage staffing workload balancing and resource planning across projects.
- Drive performance management succession planning and capability development within the discipline.
Project Execution Support
- Provide leadership and oversight to Civil & Structural scope on projects ensuring alignment with cost schedule and quality objectives.
- Support development of engineering execution plans including scope definition resource planning and scheduling.
- Intervene as needed to support project teams and resolve delivery challenges.
Business & Client Engagement
- Support proposal development and contribute to winning work by defining discipline scope execution strategies and resource requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.
- Provide input into strategic decisions related to market positioning and service offerings.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT with plan to obtain PE
- Valid U.S Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 9 years of experience in engineering consulting within energy or industrial sectors
- 3 years of experience leading teams and managing personnel performance
- Experience on large capital projects (Oil & Gas Power Refining Chemicals Industrial facilities)
- Ability to proactively lead technical efforts and project team staff.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification.
