Boeing is seeking an experienced Public Affairs & Government Relations Specialist to join our Boeing Global organization in Brussels Belgium. This team leads EU policy management and engagement for the Company and is looking for a dynamic and experienced professional with relevant EU policy experience and network to serve as a valuable contributor toward our policy work.

Position responsibilities:

Lead Boeings EU Aviation Policy Work:

  • EU aviation policy impacts Boeing our customers and suppliers. It also has influence beyond the European Union with EU policy often acting as a blueprint for other regions to replicate.
  • This role will assess potential impacts of EU aviation policy developments on Boeing its customers suppliers competitors and the wider aerospace sector. Working with internal and external stakeholders this role will guide the company and influence policy outcomes.
  • Lead advocacy strategies on EU aviation Policy with European Commission (especially DG MOVE) European Parliament European Council and EU Member States.
  • Develop and nurture strong and trustworthy relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders including policymakers customers suppliers trade associations and think tanks.
  • Collaborate with Boeing business units (especially technical teams regarding relationships with EASA Boeing Commercial Airlines and Boeing Global Services) to ensure policy developments align with their strategies goals and business activities.
  • Develop compelling government affairs engagement plans to advance these activities in the EU.

Lead Boeing Cross-Functional and Pan-EU Policy Alignment:

  • Several Global functions with a strong equities in EU policy making are represented in Boeings Brussels office. A key part of Boeing Globals role is to ensure coordination and alignment across different functions and present a One Boeings view to external stakeholders.
  • This role will support the VP EU & NATO in ensuring there is tight coordination on Boeings entire EU policy portfolio from sustainability aviation EASA and safety chemicals reporting digital trade and defence amongst other topics.
  • This will entail working closely with other corporate functions based in Brussels to drive synergies alignment and common approaches.
  • This role will also drive greater coordination and alignment with government affairs colleagues across EU member states and with colleagues in the US. It will develop and advance a pan-EU policy strategy while ensuring colleagues at national level receive the support they require to effectively advocate on EU policy issues in national capitals.

This position requires detailed knowledge of and relationships with EU Institutions and stakeholders as well as a good understanding of EU-US relations. The selected successful candidate will have a passion for teamworking and enthusiasm for the aviation industry.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree
  • 10 years experience and achievement in EU government relations or a related policy environment
  • Deep understanding of EU and international aviation policy particularly from an OEM perspective on key issues such as Sustainability Safety and Innovation.
  • Experience coordinating projects across several European countries and international teams.
  • Be familiar with Boeings global teams particularly in Europe as well as its footprint.
  • Strong political acumen and geo-political awareness
  • Well-developed EU policy network
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with cross-functional colleagues senior executives customers stakeholders and partners
  • Proven track record of multi-tasking and working in a team environment
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/Experience)

  • Masters Degree
  • Experience working in transatlantic environments and topics such as American business associations or American companies.

Work Authorization:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Belgium. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in Belgium.
