Essential Job Duties

  • Personnel in this position are required to interface daily with design engineers management peers special tooling and test equipment users and supporting craft personnel. Interaction is required to understand priorities job assignments resolve specification issues and correct deficiencies.
  • Must be able to make informed decisions about proper test setup analysis completeness and accuracy of data and determination of accept/reject criteria.
  • Recent full time academic training may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for two years of experience.
  • Have the ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved as determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation of qualifications training and education.
  • Accurately record and verify inspection data on forms or by direct input to computer databases.
  • Performs duties subject to peer review.
  • Assists with cross-training other employees and review of their job performance and data records.
  • Works safely wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Performs tasks according to Standards Internal Operating Procedures Operation and Instruction Standards and other written procedures or verbal instructions.
  • Follows prescribed safety and security procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of applicable Federal State Department of Energy (DOE) Corporate and Plant rules regulations Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
  • Required to attend and successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 42) and Management.
  • Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.

Electrical Inspector

  • Recent work experience must include the performance of: special tooling and test equipment inspection and analysis of calculations through exacting precision measurement of electrical test equipment inspection and analysis of calculations through setup and measurement of electrical cables equipment and adapters using complex schematics drawings and/or procedures.
  • Experience is typically acquired in a related industry comparable to Pantex such as; aircraft/aerospace tooling fabrication metrology laboratories or electronic equipment manufacturing assembly and testing as specified on requisition and determined by interview.
  • Performs work primarily in a specialized field of inspection and testing. Depending upon job assignment and primary skill the technician completes precise inspections and tests to ensure that special tooling and test electrical equipment have been fabricated modified or repaired to design specifications. The technician works with precision measuring equipment and electrical test instruments in the performance of these functions. Typical functions of this classification are as follows:

    • Test measure inspect and verify modified newly fabricated and repaired special tooling and test equipment (tools fixtures testers cables and adapters) to ensure they meet specified design requirements prior to use in weapons/weapon-related processes.
    • Read and understand complex special tooling and test equipment drawings schematics and procedures.
    • Perform electrical measurements tests mathematical calculations inspection work and peer review with a high degree of accuracy under general supervision.

Skills and Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform all duties and functions outline above.
  • Must meet initial employment requirements.
  • Must be able to read write and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
  • Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
  • Must have education and experience as noted in the specific requirements depending upon the job vacancy.
  • Must demonstrate technical writing skills by possessing an ability to initiate and maintain neat accurate and complete procedures and documents.
  • All qualifications work history training and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
  • Must successfully complete qualification training.

Education

  • Must have an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electronic Technology or Instrumentation and Control from an accredited college.

OR

  • Training equivalent to the two years (AA degree) college requirement gained by taking courses acceptable to Quality supervision from a recognized trade school (Military schools included).

OR

  • Must have at least 12 credit hours of college Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have at least 6 credit hours of college mathematics such as college Algebra Trigonometry or Geometry.

AND

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of Electronics or Electrical work experience.

DOE Order 426.2A Requirements

  • In addition to the above requirements the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (High School diploma or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref DOE O 426.2A)

  • Near vision (must be able to read computer screen manuscript book etc at approximately 13-16 inches from face)

  • Ability to perform safety-sensitive duties

Notes

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position
