Job Title: Principal Pool (All Levels - Elementary Middle Secondary)

Job Summary:
Provides instructional leadership to staff including the presentation of professional learning activities observation of classroom instruction and the provision of feedback regarding teaching performance. Responsible for day-to-day building administration and activities. Responsible for the safety and welfare of both students and staff. Ensures a safe pleasant and effective educational atmosphere provides discipline as necessary and enforces school policy. Provides leadership at the local school level in carrying out the goals and objectives of the School District administers and supervises all the activities and personnel of the school toward the fullest possible development of each student.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college/university in Education Administration
- A valid South Carolina teaching certificate with Secondary Administration
- Elementary and/or Secondary Principal (Tier I Tier II) /*Please provide a copy of your current SC certification
- At least five years of successful experience as a teacher (Elementary/Middle/High) *must match administrative level
- At least three years of experience as a building level administrator
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Job Goal:
To use leadership supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Interacts with students in a constructive manner to encourage each individual to perform at his/her highest level
- Manages all building personnel
- Assigns teachers to classrooms and students to classes
- Evaluates performance and effectiveness of programs and staff
- Coordinates in-service training
- Interacts with students in a constructive manner to encourage each individual to perform at optimal levels for staff
- Maintains relations with parents parent groups school volunteers and outside agencies
- Participates in district-wide activities in-services and committees as appropriate
- Maintains and implements District State and Federal policy and procedure changes at the building level
- Prepares the school budget and works with business services on budgeting/purchasing
- Establishes priorities for educational materials to meet the needs of students and teachers
- Maintains current information on legal/financial developments of educational legislative reforms
- Provides administrative supervision of school-sponsored activities functions athletic and special events
- Maintains familiarity with needs and policies governing the education of students with special needs
- Supervises maintenance cleanliness security and safety of the building and grounds
- Assumes responsibility for the custody of equipment and facilities and their proper utilization
- Delegates duties and responsibilities to staff in order to effectively carry out school activities
- Cooperates with other school principals and officials in student and district inter-school matters
- Provides leadership in identifying school needs and implementing educational objectives
- Establishes and maintains a continuous program of educational planning and organization
- Directs the methods techniques and procedures which will effectively insure a quality instructional program
- Maintains a continuous evaluation of instructional effectiveness
- Maintains a school environment that is conducive to learning
- Works closely with other attendance zone schools to insure a harmonious and cooperative relationship
- Supervises or provides appropriate scheduling and placement to accommodate various student abilities and needs
- Maintains accurate student records
- Cooperates with routing coordinators to provide transportation services to students
- Implements School Board policies administrative directives and regulations relating to the school
- Maintains student discipline consistent with school district policies
- Acts as a communicating liaison between staff and district administrative offices
- Prepares or supervises preparation of various reports as required by Academic Level District and/or State offices
- Assists the District Administration in various duties and tasks as requested or assigned
- Manages District budgeted funds and established control over expenditures and receipts of local monies
- Provides assistance to teachers and staff in order to improve the quality of educational services
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by District Administration
Magnet Responsibilities: (Applies to the following schools: Carvers Bay Early College and Career High Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy Browns Ferry Elementary for the Creative and Performing Arts Plantersville Elementary Digital Immersion School and Pleasant Hill Elementary STREAM Academy)
- Develop and implement a vision and strategic plan for the school in alignment with the MSAP grant goals
- Provide instructional leadership and support to teachers and staff to ensure high-quality innovative and rigorous academic programs that are aligned with the schools magnet theme and AVID
- Stay informed about current educational trends research and best practices in magnet school education
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations and policies related to magnet school programs and operations
- Meet with MSAP staff and lead teacher to develop implement embed and sustain magnet theme and AVID system
- Attend Magnet meetings and conferences
- Foster and collaborate with parent and community stakeholders to increase choice and promote diversity
- Ensure the following grant objectives are implemented:
- Increase choice and promote diversity by reducing and preventing further minority group isolation in Carvers Bay schools
- Developing and delivering innovative theme-based curriculum that strengthens student knowledge in academic subjects and provides all students enrolled in Carvers Bay the opportunity to improve academic achievement meet challenging State academic standards and achieve postsecondary success
- Implementing evidence-based interventions that ensures all students have equitable access to high quality education and engaging learning environments
- Increasing the capacity of magnet school administrators and teachers to deliver an academically rigorous theme-based curriculum that is sustainable

Pay Scale
Administrative Salary Scale: J K L O (ELEM/Intermediate - depends on school size) / N O P Q (Middle - depends on school size) R S U (High School - depends on school size) - salary based on years of experience and degree level: job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
