Job Summary
Senior MongoDB DBA (Cluster Sharding & AWS Migration)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced MongoDB Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in replica sets sharded clusters security and performance tuning. The role involves managing large-scale MongoDB environments automating operations and supporting cloud migration initiatives (AWS).
Key Responsibilities
MongoDB Architecture & Setup
- Configure and manage MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters
- Design and deploy multi-node MongoDB clusters on Linux platforms
- Convert replica sets to sharded clusters based on data growth
- Add/remove nodes and ensure cluster scalability
Database Administration & Operations
- Install upgrade and migrate MongoDB clusters (e.g. 4.0 to higher versions)
- Monitor analyze and optimize MongoDB performance
- Perform backup restore and monitoring automation using Python/Shell
- Handle database operations including cluster maintenance and upgrades
Performance & Optimization
- Design and implement shard keys for balanced data distribution
- Perform query optimization and execution plan analysis
- Implement indexing strategies (including text indexing)
- Tune database performance at host and DB level
Security & Compliance
- Implement X509 authentication and TLS/SSL security
- Configure secure MongoDB environments as per enterprise standards
- Manage authentication authorization and auditing
Ops Manager & Monitoring
- Setup and manage MongoDB Ops Manager (Ops-Mgr)
- Onboard replica sets and clusters to Ops Manager
- Manage projects groups and upgrades in Ops Manager
Cloud & Migration
- Perform MongoDB cluster migration to AWS
- Support deployment and scaling in cloud environments
Required Skills
Core Technical Skills
- Strong experience in MongoDB DBA (Replica Sets & Sharding)
- Expertise in cluster design deployment and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of:
- Sharding (Range & Hash-based)
- Replication architecture
- Change streams
- Experience with query performance tuning & indexing
Database & System Skills
- Hands-on experience with Linux environments
- Strong understanding of MongoDB query planner & execution
Automation & Scripting
- Experience with Python and Shell scripting
- Automation of backup restore and monitoring workflows
Security
- Hands-on with X509 TLS/SSL authentication
- Database security and auditing experience
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AWS cloud (MongoDB migration/deployment)
- Exposure to enterprise-grade MongoDB environments
- Experience with Ops Manager administration
