SUMMARY: The Behavior Intervention Aide will assist in implementing interventions and supports to help students develop appropriate behavior coping skills and social skills. This position provides support to the instructional program by reinforcing positive behavioral strategies collecting data and assisting staff and students to meet individual social and behavioral needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists the Behavior Intervention Teacher and classroom staff in implementing behavior/success plans for students with behavioral challenges.
- Supports the educational process by working with students in general and/or special education settings.
- Reinforces social emotional and behavioral goals developed by the instructional team.
- Collects maintains and monitors behavior data as directed by the Behavior Intervention Teacher.
- Observes students in classroom and non-classroom environments to provide input and feedback on progress.
- Provides individual or small group support for students to practice social and behavioral strategies and coping skills.
- Assists in promoting a positive classroom and school environment to increase learning opportunities for all students.
- Participates in meetings and professional development activities as requested.
- Encourages parent involvement by supporting communication efforts of the teacher and/or school staff.
- Supervises students in classrooms hallways lunchroom playground or other assigned areas to help maintain safety and order.
- Observes confidentiality regarding students and staff when communicating with others.
- Follows all policies rules and regulations of the Board of Education.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the effective functioning of the work unit.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students in various settings as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or GED.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month employee. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
