Job Summary

Description

Prepares specimens and performs testing procedures on pathology specimens that result in the creation of microscopic slide preparations for diagnostic and/or prognostic analysis by the pathologist. Applies technical theory to provide overall operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing activities. Able to accommodate scheduling adjustments off shifts holidays on-call and weekend work assignments. Assists with training of students and employees.

Additional Information:

This position is within the Pathology Research Core (PRC) in the Biorepositories program. PRC provides research laboratory services including tissue sectioning tissue microarray (TMA) construction immunostaining multiplex staining and digital imaging. The primary focus of this role is to support tissue microarray services with opportunities to expand the service line introduce automation and increase throughput. Cross-coverage in tissue sectioning and imaging is also expected.



Qualifications

Bachelors degree and HTL certified through the ASCP Board of Registry. Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred.

Graduates of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Histology Technician Program will receive preference.
Histotechnologist (HTL or HTLi) certified through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required at start date. Employees obtaining certification(s) after January 1 2004 will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.
