Job Summary

Job Title: Teaching Professor in Teacher Education (Open Rank Teaching Track)Location: Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development Sacred Heart University Fairfield ConnecticutPosition Type: Full-time in-person non-tenure eligible promotion eligible (Assistant Teaching Professor / Associate Teaching Professor / Teaching Professor). Rank at appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and Heart Universitys Farrington College of Education & Human Development (FCEHD) located in Fairfield CT invites applications for a full-time 9-month teaching faculty position (open rank) within the Department of Teacher Education. This faculty member will serve as a generalist in the teacher education program with primary teaching responsibilities in elementary education and clinical practice (fieldwork/student teaching). In addition the successful candidate will bring expertise in supporting multilingual learners (MLLs) and will play a key role in integrating linguistically responsive and inclusive practices across the teacher education curriculum. The successful candidate will teach courses in both undergraduate and graduate teacher education with responsibilities including teaching advising and participating in service activities that support the universitys mission. The anticipated start date is Fall ResponsibilitiesTeach undergraduate and/or graduate courses across the teacher education curriculum including:Education methods courses (e.g. literacy content-area instruction)Foundations and/or curriculum coursesCourses connected to clinical practice and field experiencesSupervise and mentor teacher candidates during clinical placements including observation feedback and evaluationCollaborate with faculty to infuse multilingual learner (MLL) pedagogy across courses and program experiencesContribute to ongoing program development curriculum design and continuous improvement including alignment with state standards and accreditation requirementsServe as an advisor and mentor to studentsParticipate in departmental college and university serviceRequired QualificationsEarned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Teacher Education Curriculum & Instruction Elementary Education Multilingual Education or a closely related field (ABD considered with completion required by start date)Demonstrated experience teaching in P-12 or higher education settingsExperience working with or supporting multilingual learners (MLLs) in P12 or teacher education settingsEvidence of effective teaching and commitment to equity-focused inclusive pedagogyExperience with or strong interest in clinical supervision and field-based teacher preparationPreferred QualificationsExpertise in one or more of the following:Multilingual learners / English language developmentCulturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogyExperience integrating MLL-focused practices across general education or methods coursesExperience working with diverse urban or high-need school settingsApplication ProcessInterested candidates should submit the following:A cover letter detailing teaching philosophy research interests and commitment to social justice in higher vitae (CV).Three letters of reference and transcript(s) will be required of semi-finalists
