Job Summary

In partnership with our client we are seeking a Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in the financial operations of one of Africas most exciting multi-channel retail businesses. This is a company that sells innovative proven products across TV online phone catalogues social media and retail partnerships spanning the entire country. Who are we looking for
  • You are a qualified financial accountant with a minimum of 4 years of finance experience including at least 3 years in a leadership role preferably within retail or consumer goods.
  • You are analytically strong and able to interpret complex financial data and translate it into clear actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • You are a strategic thinker who understands how financial planning connects to business growth and can develop and implement strategies that support both.
  • You are a proven team leader who knows how to mentor motivate and develop a finance team towards high performance and continuous improvement.

  • You are proficient in financial software ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
Your Responsibilities
Budgeting and amp; Forecasting
  • You will develop and manage comprehensive budgets financial forecasts and reports that support strategic decision-making across the business.
  • You will ensure that financial planning is proactive accurate and aligned with the companys growth objectives.
  • Financial Analysis and amp; Reporting
  • You will conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends forecast future performance and present clear insights to the leadership team.
  • You will own financial reporting across the business ensuring leadership always has accurate and timely information to act on.
Cash Flow Management
  • You will ensure the efficient management of the companys cash flow to sustain daily operations and support strategic initiatives.
  • You will monitor liquidity closely and flag risks before they impact business continuity.
  • Compliance and amp; Risk Management
  • You will oversee compliance with statutory law and financial regulations ensuring the business operates within all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • You will proactively manage financial risk putting controls in place to protect the organisations financial integrity.
Stakeholder Management
  • You will work closely with department heads and external partners including banks and investors to optimise financial performance and alignment.
  • You will build strong working relationships across the business serving as a trusted financial partner to leadership and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership
  • You will lead and develop the finance team fostering a culture of high performance accountability and continuous improvement.
  • You will mentor team members and invest in their growth building a finance function that scales with the business.
What Success looks like
  • Budgets and forecasts are accurate comprehensive and delivered on time giving leadership the clarity needed to make bold and informed decisions.
  • Cash flow is managed efficiently with no disruptions to daily operations or strategic initiatives.
  • The business maintains full statutory and regulatory compliance with zero penalties or audit findings.
  • Financial risks are identified and mitigated proactively with clear controls in place across all financial operations.
  • The finance team is high-performing well-developed and operating with increasing capability and confidence.
  • Financial reports and insights are consistently delivered on time are reliable and directly inform business growth planning.
To be considered for this role you should have
  • A Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or a related field. A Masters degree or professional qualifications such as ACCA CFA or CPA is highly desirable.
  • Completed ICAN qualification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 4 years of finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role preferably in retail or consumer goods.
  • Strong strategic financial acumen with a proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity attention to detail and a proactive results-oriented mindset.
