Job Summary
As a Software Development Engineer youll design massively scalable distributed systems handling complex financial workflows. Youll work on services requiring low latency high throughput and strong consistency directly impacting Amazons financial transaction tracking and reconciliation worldwide.
Key job responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain USL (Universal Subledger) and rACE (replayable Amortization Calculation Engine) systems ensuring high availability and data integrity for critical financial operations
- Own full software development lifecycle: architecture design implementation testing deployment and operational support of critical financial services
- Develop solutions for variance reconciliation ensuring data consistency and accuracy across financial platforms
- Drive operational excellence through robust monitoring alarming and automated issue resolution
- Mentor junior engineers and raise technical standards through code reviews design discussions and best practices
- Participate in on-call rotation supporting production systems and resolving critical issues
- Optimize system performance and scalability to handle growing transaction volumes

Amazon Financial Foundation Services (AFFS) integrates business systems to ensure accurate timely and auditable financial records across Amazon. Our mission is to enable Amazon businesses to start up grow and operate at Amazon scale while reducing manual effort and risk. AFFS teams build systems to record transform manage and report on financial transactions from all Amazon businesses ensuring seamless financial operations so business units can focus on delighting customers.
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
