The Director II Research & Development Portfolio Management is primarily responsible for creating and implementing an integrated plan and managing assigned new product development projects in R&D. You will lead cross-functional project teams manage project status budgets and schedules and ensure all requirements are met while providing clear leadership and guidance. Specifics include:

• Lead strategic planning execution of medium to large scale projects cross-functional R&D portfolio initiatives ensuring alignment with corporate and franchise objectives and compliance with Stage-Gate processes.
• Develop and maintain integrated product development plans overseeing project lifecycles from inception through commercialization.
• Guide cross-functional teams proactively identify risks implement contingency plans and ensure timely issue resolution to meet safety quality and stakeholder objectives.
• Serve as a key liaison across internal and external stakeholders ensuring functional alignment and effective communication.
• Oversee project operations including budget forecasting resource allocation and financial planning in collaboration with Finance.
• Manage Product Lifecycle Team (PLT) governance facilitate meetings drive project approvals and ensure execution of strategic initiative.
• Establish best-in-class project management processes tools and governance frameworks to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
• Maintain portfolio oversight by monitoring progress identifying optimization opportunities and providing executive-level insights.
• Champion innovation foster cross-functional collaboration and integrate scientific and business acumen to drive R&D excellence within a global fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
• Assist portfolio prioritization by balancing business-critical needs cost considerations and resource constraints on your projects.

What Youll Bring to Alcon:

• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 18 yrs; Assoc.14 yrs; M.S.7 yrs; PhD6 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read write understand and communicate in English
• 10 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Biomedical Engineering Materials Engineering or equivalent.
• Medical Device Product Development Background
• PMP Certification
