Job Summary
Summary
Franklin Road Academy seeks a long-term substitute for an Upper School Science teacher. The term will last from August 6 2026 through December 18 2026. Candidates should have experience teaching Advanced Placement courses and experience with teaching physics. Candidates should desire to be a part of a collaborative faculty that resonates with FRAs mission to develop leaders of integrity in an inclusive Christian community. This position requires close coordination with other grade-level teachers. The department will meet regularly to share best practices and ensure a collegial atmosphere of growth and development. Candidates for this position should have a passion for science and have a desire to grow as instructors and mentors of students. All teachers at FRA are advisors of groups of 8-10 students that meet 4 times per week. Teachers are encouraged to integrate themselves into the school community.
Essential Functions
The tasks duties and responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to:
- Follow and modify (as needed) pre-planned curriculum to meet the needs of the class through the creation of assessments of various types
- Serve as advisor for a group of 8-10 students
- Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula expectations and best-practice pedagogy
- Performs general teaching tasks such as tracking attendance assigning homework grading assignments giving feedback and communicating effectively with students at all skill levels
- Maintains regularly scheduled office hours and other faculty responsibilities
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelors Degree in subject area or related field
- Experience in teaching upper school students
- Experience with current software current hardware and computer applications

- Eagerness to research and learn new technologies and bring them into the classroom
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
