The Role
We seek a Desktop Support & Data Center Hands and Feet Support Engineer to provide onsite technical assistance for enduser computing environments and physical data center operations.
This role serves as the local technical presence to support desktop/laptop devices peripherals and critical data center infrastructure activities that require physical intervention. The engineer works closely with remote infrastructure network server and service desk teams to execute tasks safely accurately and within defined SLAs.
Your responsibilities:
Desktop Support Responsibilities
Provide Level 1 / Level 2 desktop support for end user devices including desktops laptops monitors printers and peripherals.
Perform IMACD activities (Install Move Add Change Decommission) for end user computing equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware operating system and standard application issues (Windows macOS as applicable).
Support user access issues including password resets MFA devices and basic network connectivity troubleshooting.
Coordinate with centralized Service Desk and resolver groups for escalations and incident resolution.
Maintain accurate incident requests and asset updates in ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow).
Provide white glove or VIP support when required.
Data Center Hands and Feet Responsibilities
- Provide onsite Smart Hands & Feet support for data center and IT infrastructure equipment when remote teams require physical intervention.
- Perform server and network device tasks including:
- Rack and stack of servers network and storage equipment
- Cabling (fiber and copper) installation labelling and cleanup
- Power cycling reseating components and LED/status checks
- Replacing hotswappable components (disks power supplies NICs)
- Assist with data center IMAC activities decommissioning and asset disposition.
- Escort vendors and ensure adherence to data center security and access policies.
- Monitor and report environmental or facility issues (power cooling cabling physical security) to facilities or infrastructure teams.
- Follow change management safety and compliance procedures during all data center activities.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong experience in Desktop Support IT Infrastructure Support or Data Center Operations.
- Handson experience with desktop/laptop hardware and common peripherals.
- Basic understanding of data center environments including racks power cabling and structured cabling standards.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools and ticketbased support models.
- Ability to follow written procedures and execute tasks accurately under remote guidance.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with remote engineers and stakeholders
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience working in enterprise or financial services data centers.
- Exposure to server storage or network hardware from major OEMs (Dell HPE Cisco etc.).
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts (ports VLANs patch panels).
- Understanding of safety practices and access controls in secured data center facilities.
