Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leader

Full time

Derby/Hybrid

The Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leader will be the Global leader and company expert on a Commodity Method of Manufacture. You will own develop and implement best practice across the global supply chain alongside developing the strategy for development of best practice. Youll also lead a global Community of Practice with respect to the Commodity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own the overall design and intent of the Method of Manufacture for a commodity and its component families ensuring it is able to meet or beat pre-determined business requirements for cost quality and rate.

  • Own the Component Family Technical Package ensuring it is fully reflective of the best method of manufacture

  • Drive standardisation of best practice methods of manufacture across the Rolls-Royce Global Supply Chain.

  • Create commodity manufacturing strategies based on global benchmarking commodity strategy needs relevant manufacturing process technology strategies and knowledge of emerging new capabilities.

  • Integrate the commodity manufacturing strategy into the Integrated Commodity Strategy

  • Ensure that capital investment conforms to the commodity manufacturing strategy

  • Support continuous improvement activities through the collection of global Quality Cost Delivery and Responsiveness data for the Commodity

  • Take the lead in capturing lessons learnt for the commodity and ensure these are fully incorporated into Capability Acquisition Product Introduction and Continuous Improvement activities

  • Develop the Community of Practice for the commodity

  • Define skill and professional knowledge requirements to support the commodity. Identify co-ordinate & deliver appropriate training to satisfy skill and knowledge requirements.

  • Support technical problem resolution for the commodity

Who were looking for

To be successful in this role youll bring strong business acumen a strategic mindset and could work collaboratively across functions. Youll thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy solving complex problems. Specifically youll need:

  • Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or another national equivalent)

  • UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or another national equivalent

  • Significant technical knowledge of the commodity accountable for methods of manufacture at least Plant level. Sound understanding of the design requirements and product functionality of the commodity

  • Has proven technical leadership through a range of projects and activities across a broad front

  • Has developed and deployed extensive personal and professional networks
