Job Summary
The Optician - Noncertified supports Trinity Healths Regional Eye Care Clinic by assisting patients with eyewear selection fittings adjustments and basic optical services. This role provides knowledgeable guidance on frames lenses and product options while coordinating orders and facilitating communication between patients providers and the optical lab to ensure a positive patient experience. Working closely with clinic and optical team members the Optician contributes to smooth daily operations through accurate documentation effective customer service and well-organized optical displays and inventory. This position functions within a collaborative service-focused environment that supports both the clinical and retail aspects of eye care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting frames lenses and optical products that meet prescription functional and aesthetic needs.
- Perform eyewear measurements adjustments repairs and fittings in accordance with clinic standards and provider recommendations.
- Communicate with patients regarding orders product options timelines and care instructions to support a positive customer experience.
- Process eyewear orders maintain accurate patient and product records and coordinate with the optical lab to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain clean and organized optical displays manage inventory levels and assist with ordering frames and supplies as needed.
- Support front office and clinic operations by responding to patient inquiries collaborating with providers and helping ensure efficient clinic flow.

- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Optical background preferred but not required
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Opticianry skills preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
The Optician - Noncertified frequently sits stands and walks throughout the optical area assisting patients and handling frame selections and adjustments. The role requires fine motor skills for performing precise measurements repairs and adjustments as well as the ability to lift and carry light optical supplies or display materials. Adequate vision hearing and communication abilities are essential for interacting with patients reading prescriptions and performing detailed optical tasks.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in an outpatient eye care and optical retail environment with frequent interaction with patients providers and vendor representatives. The role may involve routine exposure to cleaning agents small tools and optical equipment. The environment includes periods of moderate noise frequent interruptions and close attention to detail. Adherence to safety infection-control and patient privacy practices is required.
