POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy Equipment Tech is responsible for maintaining and servicing heavy machinery by performing scheduled PMs component overhauls diagnostic repairs and emergency repairs. This role ensures that equipment operates efficiently by preventing breakdowns and extending equipment life. Wage range: $37.07/hr - $43.14/hr.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules regulations and JSAs.
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Service and maintain all rolling stock and heavy equipment; operate all rolling stock.
- Perform regular maintenance and diagnostic checks on rolling stock.
- Identify mechanical hydraulic electrical and other system-related issues and perform repairs or replacements of components as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment complies with safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Utilize CMMS to maintain detailed logs of repairs maintenance work and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Working knowledge of computerized diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read blueprints schematics and repair manuals.
- Order parts tools and supplies necessary for repairs and maintain an inventory of essential items as needed.
- Stay updated on new machinery repair techniques and industry standards to maintain skills and knowledge of current technologies.
- Communicate with equipment operators coworkers and supervisors to discuss equipment issues repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Keep shop clean and tools organized.
- Duties vary by location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Four year mechanical training in vocational/technical school or equivalent work experience in heavy duty mechanic field
- Ability to adjust work schedule perform shift work work overtime as needed
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test post-offer pre-employment physical and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid drivers license.
- Certifications in welding.
- Manufacturer-Specific Certifications (Caterpillar Volvo Komatsu etc.).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift reach with hands and arms stoop squat bend at the waist kneel walk varying distance and climb stairs.
