GENERAL GROUNDS
Supervisor: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule
Location/Assignment: Maintenance Department
Conditions of work: 8 hours per day 260 Days
SUMMARY:
The position of General Grounds has the purpose of maintaining an attractive sanitary and safe facility and grounds including athletic fields and stadium preparation for students staff and public; minimizing property damage loss and liability exposure; and ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe proper and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor grounds daily for areas needing repairs and maintenance.
Monitor and maintain landscapes cultivation of trees lawns and plants.
Maintain irrigation system and pumps.
Provide routine service and mechanical work to all grounds maintenance equipment including mowers power sweepers rakes snow blowers irrigation equipment etc.
Perform routine mechanical carpentry painting plumbing roofing and basic electrical work.
Field preparation before an event including mowing field markers bleachers bathrooms and press box.
Provide general maintenance duties as needed.
Ability to work in inclement weather remove snow and prevent ice buildup using snow blowers shovels and truck blades.
Other job duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Washington State Drivers License required.
Minimum of 1 year job related experience preferred.
Willing to obtain a Public Operator Pesticide License within 3 months of hire date.
Experience with the use of a computer to complete work order systems and other work related functions.
Knowledge of the principles of heating ventilation sanitation and care of school buildings.
Proven ability to work independently and plan and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships that foster efficiency and productivity and promotes cooperation with administrators fellow employees students faculty and the public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
Attendance and punctuality are important in this position.
