Job Summary
The Sr. Director Strategic FP&A is a high-impact CFO-proximate role designed for a finance professional who thrives at the intersection of sophisticated financial analysis executive storytelling and transaction execution. This is not a traditional FP&A role it is a strategic seat at the table working directly with the CFO to shape the financial narrative prepare the company for significant M&A activity and elevate the quality of insight delivered to the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
This roleoperatesas a close partner to the Sr. Director Operational FP&A a peer relationship built on mutual respect and complementary strengths. While the Operational Sr. Director runs the financial engine day to day this role looks forward building the analyses materials and transaction capabilities that will define the companys next chapter. The Sr. Director Strategic FP&A also works in close partnership with the Corporate Development function on all strategic transaction activity.
The role is based in our Tysons Virginia office 3 days per week where this leader will also serve as an active in-person mentor to the broader FP&A team bringing an outside perspective raising the analytical bar and investing in the next generation of finance talent.
Key Responsibilities:
M&A Transaction Readiness & Execution
Serve as the primary FP&A lead for future M&A transactions including full company strategic processes involving private equity sponsors
Own financial diligence preparation including management presentations CIM financial support data room readiness and Quality of Earnings coordination
Workhand-in-handwith the Corporate Development Sr. Director to ensure the companys financial story is compellingaccurate and PE-readyat all times
Anticipate and proactively address the financial questions that will arise in a transaction process drawing on firsthand deal experience
Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
Partner directly with the CFO to develop forward-looking financial analyses that drive better strategic decision making
Leverage AI and advanced analytical tools to build new analytical frameworks and models that go beyond traditional FP&A outputs
Identifyand develop new analytical capabilities that provide the business with a sharper view of performance risk and opportunity
Support ad hoc strategic requests from the CFO and senior leadership with speed precision and intellectual rigor
Executive & Board-Level Materials
Own the design and quality of Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team financial materials elevating both the content and the presentation standard
Translate complex financial and strategic narratives into clear visually compelling materials that drive informed decision making at the highest level
Develop and own the data visualization strategy for all strategic and executive-facing financial content
Team Mentorship & Development
Serve as an in-person mentor and thought partner to the FP&A team in Tysons bringing an outside-in perspective shaped by investment banking private equity or transaction experience
Help develop the teams analytical and commercial instincts raising the quality of thinking not just the quality of output
Model what best-in-class financial analysis looks like for a team that may not have had significant exposure to transaction environments or PE-standard rigor
What Youll Bring:
Experience & Background
Background as an investment banking analyst private equity analyst or finance professional at a portfolio company that went through a sale process this experience is essential not preferred
Direct hands-on experience with M&A transaction preparation: management presentations CIMs data rooms and financial diligence
12years of total finance experience with meaningful time spent in a transaction-intensive environment
Prior experience in or exposure to professional services or CFO advisory businesses a plus
Advanced financial modeling skills and strong command of data visualization tools
Familiarity with AI-powered analytical tools and a genuine curiosity about how they can transform finance
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
Confident independent operator who can work with minimal direction on the most complex and sensitive financial work in the company
Exceptional executive communication skills equally comfortable presenting to a CFO a PE sponsor or a junior analyst
Collaborative and low-ego genuinely invested in making the team around them better
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where none exists
Presence and gravitas torepresentthe CFO in high-stakes internal and external settings
