Were currently searching for a Housekeeping Worker to join the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team in Blacksburg VA to help us in our mission. This position attends to Custodial Operation needs by ensuring a clean sanitary and safe environment in the SECL addition it maintains established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in student lounges offices lobbies stairs restrooms showers windows and other venues as assigned. The duties include floor maintenance dusting gathering and removal of trash snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks raking leaves and gathering trash from areas near buildings. Heres what you need to know about the role:

1) Youll be joining the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team: a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments promoting holistic well-being and providing exceptional services programs and facilities.

2) Youll report to the Housekeeping Supervisor. This is a regular full-time 100% staff appointment.

3) Youll be primarily responsible for maintaining and replenishing supplies in assigned areas and reporting any facility repairs or needs to management. Youll operate powered and manual cleaning equipment; mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines; and be responsible for the care and handling of Custodial Operations supplies equipment and assigned keys. Occasionally supports Event Operations Staff in the preparation of events scheduled in reservable spaces in SECL facilities.

Required Qualifications

Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees students and visitors at a large university campus facility.
Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
Ability to work independently with little supervision; safely mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines; operate both manual and electrically powered cleaning equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in cleaning of institutional or commercial areas.
