Student Worker Lab Operations

Located in Milwaukee Wisconsin the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is the largest blood-focused research institute in the United States. With over 30 basic translational and clinical investigators the institute is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative therapies related to blood and blood disorders. The institutes research interests encompass a wide range of topics including transfusion medicine cellular therapy thrombosis/hemostasis immunology and hematologic malignancies. VBRI is part of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Campus a rapidly growing clinical-translational research hub. VBRIs proximity to the Medical College of Wisconsin Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital facilitates seamless interdisciplinary collaborations. A range of exemplary core facilities support highly competitive the summer of 2024 construction of a new research building began doubling existing VBRI research space to enable the recruitment of 10-15 new faculty. Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor the Lab Operations Student Worker performs comprehensive administrative and operational support within the Research and Shared Resources laboratories. This position assists with data reporting and analysis documentation management and the development of promotional materials while contributing to the overall efficiency safety and visibility of the Shared Resources operations. The student worker will collaborate across departments including: Facilities Marketing and external partners and provide day-to-day support in the Shared Resources Labs. • Provides administrative support to the department including filing data entry and handling customer requests
• Prepares presentations to leaders
• Helps identify opportunities for process efficiency and collaborates with teams as necessary
• Assists with the analysis and resolution of department issues and makes recommendations as appropriate.
• Assists staff with various support activities upon request such as special projects reports etc.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
• Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
• Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Education

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in communications business or a health related discipline. required

Experience

• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word Excel and Outlook) required
• Experience with integrated HRIS/payroll systems required; experience with Ceridian preferred
• Experience in a health care setting preferred
