Job Summary
Customer trust is foremost for cloud services provided by Amazon Web Services. Our customers must be guaranteed that their data will never be exposed. This Rack Decom Manager will manage a team that provides the decommission tracking and audits of all media. This includes but is not limited to all media types (disks solid state disks flash cards etc). The Rack Decom Manager will be responsible for arranging the destruction of media and decommissioned racks through approved vendors. Some destruction will be done by internal team.
Key job responsibilities
-Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly
-Coordinate change management resources
-Guide train and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues
-Manage and deliver mid-size projects
-Recommend document and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs
-Manage a diverse team of decom technicians with varying skills
-Provide weekly report to the Cluster Manager
-Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations
-Recruit and train decom technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
-Write and deliver performance reviews for staff
- 4 years of Information Technology (IT) experience or Bachelors degree in computer science engineering mathematics or equivalent
- 2 years of people management experience
- 2 years of computer networking experience
- Work a variety of hours as business demands including overnight weekends and holidays
- Experience in Linux and Networking protocols or experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities and experience in networking administration and troubleshooting
- Experience in computer architecture or experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware
- Experience with system management tools and client/server environments
- Experience with project management

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
