Sr Material Handler
St. Louis MO On-site Supply Chain / Warehouse Operations
Shift: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm
How You Will Make an Impact
As Sr Material Handler you will serve as a subject matter expert in a specialty area such as inventory control receiving shipping compliance or replenishment. You will lead complex material movements resolve exceptions and ensure high levels of transactional accuracy and traceability that support manufacturing continuity audit readiness and on-time customer delivery at Thermo Fisher Scientifics St. Louis site.
What You Will Do
- Lead complex material movements and priority work across receiving storage replenishment inventory control and shipping activities.
- Own specialty processes in an assigned area and ensure accurate WMS/ERP transactions lot/serial control and documentation.
- Perform or support authorized inventory adjustments reconciliations and material status changes in accordance with procedures.
- Lead cycle counts investigate variances analyze root causes and coordinate corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Manage priority and expedite shipments ensuring shipping documentation carrier requirements and compliance expectations are met.
- Coordinate with Planning Procurement Manufacturing Quality and other partners to resolve material issues and prevent disruption.
- Mentor peers and train associates on specialty processes SOP adherence traceability and safe material handling practices.
- Support internal and external audits inspection readiness and follow-up actions related to warehouse processes.
- Track KPIs and identify opportunities to improve accuracy service throughput and space utilization.
- Lead or participate in 5S Kaizen and continuous improvement activities; serve as back-up lead when needed.
How You Will Get Here
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Advanced equipment certifications required or strongly preferred.
- Lean quality and/or inventory control training preferred.
Experience
- 2 years of warehouse logistics or distribution experience.
- Recognized expertise in inventory control receiving shipping compliance replenishment or a similar specialty area.
- Experience troubleshooting complex exceptions in a WMS/ERP environment; regulated or cGMP experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Advanced WMS functionality inventory reconciliation and material transaction accuracy.
- Strong understanding of lot/serial control traceability and documentation requirements.
- Knowledge of shipping documentation such as BOLs LTL documentation and compliance expectations.
- Root-cause analysis skills including use of tools such as 5-Why and ability to interpret KPI trends.
- Intermediate Excel and ERP familiarity such as SAP or Oracle preferred.
- Strong communication mentoring and cross-functional coordination skills.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility between warehouse dock and production areas including occasional exposure to outdoor elements when moving between buildings.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis and operate required material handling equipment safely.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform physical warehouse tasks while also supporting troubleshooting and training activities.
