Job Summary

Shorter University a NCAA Division II institution which competes in Conference Carolinas is currently accepting applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant to the Softball program. The position is designed to provide the chosen applicant with valuable and practical experience in coaching at the collegiate level. Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in coaching. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University the Athletics Department Conference Carolinas and the NCAA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in planning and running practices
Help recruit/ evaluate potential student athletes
Oversee study hall hours and help athletes maintain good academic standing
Help with miscellaneous tasks: practice hour logs travel plans scouting reports etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution and admission to one of our graduate programs
- Previous experience in high school or collegiate softball as a coach and/ or player
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- GAs are expected to make a minimum 16 to 24-month work commitment to Shorter depending on the masters program and number of hours allowed each semester. Class hours taken in the summer require an on-campus work commitment of at least 10-15 hours per week of class.

Masters degree options:MBA MBA emphasis in Sports Management or Master of Management.
- In exchange for hours worked for the team the successful candidate will be given free tuition for graduate courses subject to the Graduate Assistantship Guidelines of the University.
- GAs are responsible for expenses for books and fees.
