Job Title - Validation Engineer AI-Driven Testing & Validation
Role Summary
We are seeking a Validation Engineer with an innovative mindset to modernize how we test and validate neuromodulation software applications (e.g. clinician tools patient apps therapy management applications device companion software). This role will apply AI/ML and intelligent automation techniques to transform the test and validation lifecycleimproving speed coverage traceability and defect prevention while meeting medical device quality and regulatory expectations.
This is an ideal role for someone who is fluent in V&V rigor and also excited about rethinking testing using AI-assisted approaches such as test generation risk-based prioritization log anomaly detection intelligent regression selection requirements-to-test mapping and documentation automation.

Key Responsibilities
1) Modernize the Testing & Validation Paradigm Using AI
Design and implement AI-assisted testing approaches to improve effectiveness and reduce cycle time such as:
o Intelligent test case generation from requirements hazards and user workflows
o AI-based regression test prioritization and selection
o Automated exploratory testing support (session-based AI insights)
o Defect clustering and root-cause hints from telemetry/logs
o AI-assisted test review and gap analysis
Identify high-value opportunities to replace manual repetitive testing with automation intelligent decisioning while maintaining compliance.
2) Verification & Validation for Neuromodulation Applications
Own and execute verification and validation (V&V) for software applications supporting neuromodulation therapy workflows.
Develop risk-based test strategies across unit integration system and release validation.
Validate end-to-end workflows such as:
o Therapy setup/configuration support
o Patient/clinician workflows and UI behaviors
o Data handling storage sync and reporting
o Connectivity scenarios (pairing reconnects dropped links offline mode)
o Error handling alarms/notifications and safe behaviors
3) Automation & Test Infrastructure
Build and maintain automated test frameworks for web/mobile/desktop applications (as applicable) including:
o UI automation API/integration tests and service virtualization
o Test data generation and environment management
o CI/CD integration with quality gates and automated reporting
Establish repeatable auditable test execution pipelines and improve test reliability (flakiness reduction stable test environments).
4) Risk Management & Safety-Driven Validation
Translate hazard analysis outputs (e.g. FMEA hazard tables) into explicit testable safety requirements and verification evidence.
Ensure validation covers:
o Safety constraints and guardrails
o Misuse and human error scenarios
o Boundary conditions stress and performance scenarios
o Fail-safe behavior and clear user messaging
5) Traceability Documentation and Audit Readiness
Produce and maintain V&V deliverables suitable for a regulated environment:
o Test plans protocols reports and objective evidence
o Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and coverage reporting
o Defect documentation with severity rationale and verification of fixes
Use AI to accelerate documentation while ensuring correctness reviewability and compliance (e.g. structured templates auto-linking evidence).
6) Cross-Functional Leadership & Change Enablement
Partner with Software Systems Quality Regulatory Human Factors and Clinical stakeholders.
Champion continuous improvement: propose new approaches run pilots and scale successful innovations across programs.
Develop internal guidance playbooks and training to help the organization adopt AI-driven validation methods safely and responsibly.
