Group Leader – Analytical Sciences

Job Summary
The Group Leader Analytical Sciences is responsible for leading a team of analysts while maintaining strong technical engagement in analytical method development and protein characterization. This role combines hands-on scientific expertise with people leadership project oversight and cross-functional collaboration in a regulated laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mentor and support a team of analytical scientists fostering technical excellence accountability and professional growth
- Plan assign and oversee routine assay execution and method development activities
- Drive the development of novel separation and identification assays
- Lead separation characterization and identification of proteins and antibodies using:
- HPLC and UPLC
- cIEF
- BioA/GX and related analytical techniques
- Develop and optimize HPLC- and UPLC-based chromatography methods including:
- Size exclusion
- Affinity chromatography
- Normal-phase
- Reverse-phase
- Ion exchange
- Hydrophobic interaction chromatography
- Utilize DAD and FLD detectors to support analytical method development and troubleshooting
- Review data ensure accuracy and compliance and support technical problem-solving
- Partner with management and cross-functional teams to support project timelines throughput and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications :
- BS or BA in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent experience); relevant industry experience may substitute for degree requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on HPLC experience preferably within pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments
- Demonstrated experience with HPLC and UPLC method development
- Strong background in protein and antibody separation and characterization
- Thorough understanding of chromatographic techniques including SEC affinity normal-phase reverse-phase ion exchange and HIC
- Prior leadership experience or a demonstrated ability to mentor guide and lead others in a laboratory setting
- Strong organizational communication collaboration and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivated adaptable and positive leadership style
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
