About the job

The Global Experience Team is seeking an execution-driven Localization Automation Engineer (SDET) to lead the cost-effective modernization of localization testing by replacing manual workflows with scalable automated and AI-augmented solutions.

The role is focused on designing implementing and maintaining automation frameworks for localization testing addressing engineering challenges such as multi-locale UI coverage frequent content and UI changes locale-dependent behavior and layout variability caused by text expansion. Automated tests will be integrated into the CI/CD pipeline to enable reliable repeatable and early detection of localization regressions.

This position plays a critical role in evolving localization QA into a sustainable and efficient testing strategy reducing manual regression efforts introducing automation best practices improving test coverage and consistency and enabling a scalable testing model that balances automation tooling and human validation in a complex global product environment.

As a Localization Automation Engineer:

• Works closely with project management development translation internationalization test and others as needed.
• Performs tests on localized software to ensure product quality; fixes and verifies software defects.
• Develops summary documents after test completion; provides feedback to translation and development team.
• Discusses technical and design issues with other developers managers users or customers when necessary to achieve optimal solution.
• Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks.
• Works with translation test and development team as necessary to meet corporate product and market requirements.
• Designs develops executes and verifies test plans and procedures for localization.
• Designs develops maintains and documents test tools to ensure quality integration into the overall function.

Operational Excellence

• Design and implement ascalable and maintainable test automation frameworktailored to localization scenarios (multi-locale multi-product frequent UI and content changes).
• Define and enforcestandards and best practicesfor localization automation (naming conventions structure locale handling test data management).
• Ensure automated tests aremodular reusable and easy to maintainacross products and releases.
• Progressively reduce manual testing by introducing structured automation approaches rather than ad-hoc scripts.
• Coach and upskill localization testers so they can understand automation results contribute to test cases possibly maintain tests over time.

Quality Management

• Automatelocalization regression testingfor user interfaces and workflows including:
  • text rendering and truncation
  • layout and UI issues caused by text expansion
  • locale-sensitive behavior.
• Integratelocalization-specific checks such as:
  • locale switching
  • language resource validation
  • date number and currency formats
• Design approaches to automate checks that traditionally rely on manual visual inspection including:
  • screenshot comparison
  • baseline validation where feasible
• Support ahuman-in-the-loop quality approach recognizing the limitations of automation and AI especially for linguistic accuracy cultural nuances and compliance.

Data & Reporting

• Ensure automated test execution producesclear actionable results.
• Contribute to the creation ofsummarized dashboards and reportsto:
  • review automation outcomes
  • identify failures efficiently
  • support decision-making on test coverage and quality risks.
• Collaborate with team members to analyze automated test failures and identify root causes.

Tooling & Technology

• Select evaluate and evolveautomation tools and frameworkssuitable for localization testing.
• Own thetechnical setupof automation solutions including:
  • repositories
  • environment configuration
  • test execution flows.
• Integrate automated tests intoCI/CD pipelines(e.g. scheduled runs post-deployment runs reporting).
• LeverageAI-assisted tools(e.g. Copilot or similar) to accelerate:
  • test creation
  • code review
  • debugging
  • test data generation.
• ApplyAgentic AI conceptsto support semi-autonomous test orchestration validation of localized content and regression analysis.

• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organizations secure software development goals.

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 3years of experience in Automation.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g. Python Java or JavaScript).
• Hands-on experience with UI and functional test automation frameworks such as Playwright Selenium or equivalent tools.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with Translation Management Systems (TMS) such as Smartling.
• Experience using AI-powered tools to support QA or localization workflows.
• Understanding of prompt engineering and effective interaction with AI systems to support test creation analysis or validation.

• Proven experience designing and evolving automation frameworks at scale with a strong focus on maintainability and long-term sustainability.
• Experience working as an SDET or Automation Engineer in complex fastevolving product environments.
• Practical experience applying AI-assisted or semi-autonomous approaches to test creation validation or analysis.
• Interest in experimenting with agentic or AIaugmented testing models to improve efficiency and coverage
