Job Summary

Job Title: Dietetic Technician

Location: New York New York 10032
Duration: 13 weeks (with possibility of extension)
Shift: 11:00 AM 7:00 PM

Job Summary

The Dietetic Technician supports registered dietitians and healthcare teams in planning and implementing nutrition care plans. This role involves assisting with patient assessments monitoring dietary needs and ensuring compliance with prescribed nutrition programs in clinical or food service settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • Conduct basic nutritional screenings and collect patient dietary histories.
  • Monitor patient food intake and document progress in medical records.
  • Educate patients and families on nutrition diet plans and healthy eating habits.
  • Ensure meals meet prescribed dietary requirements and restrictions.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure proper food preparation and portion control.
  • Maintain accurate records reports and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives related to nutrition and food services.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Dietetics Nutrition or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and dietary guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare or food service environment.

Certifications

  • Required: Food Safety Certification
  • Preferred: Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in hospitals long-term care or food service settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Work Environment

  • Healthcare and food service settings such as hospitals nursing homes rehabilitation centers outpatient clinics or similar facilities.
  • May require standing for extended periods and frequent interaction with patients.
