3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
To maintain and enhance communal outdoor spaces to a high standard ensuring they are safe clean and visually appealing for residents. The role involves carrying out a range of grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance duties including weeding planting pruning watering and grass cutting.
- Maintain lawns and landscaped areas using a range of machinery (e.g. mowers strimmers brush cutters).
- Safely operate tools equipment and machinery in line with company and manufacturer guidelines.
- Undertake minor landscaping projects to improve communal environments.
- Clear leaves moss and snow and apply grit/salt when required.
- Respond to vandalism (e.g. graffiti removal) and report incidents appropriately.
- Identify and report maintenance issues or hazards in communal areas.
- Monitor and report breaches of tenancy agreements such as anti-social behaviour or fly-tipping.
- Support and guide apprentices or trainees when required.
- Act as a point of contact for residents providing assistance or escalating queries.
- Maintain a professional and courteous approach at all times.
- Follow all health and safety procedures including the use of PPE.
- Provide cover for colleagues and carry out additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Experience in grounds maintenance gardening or a similar role.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Full UK driving licence (Category C1) and ability to drive company vehicles.
- Experience operating a wide range of grounds maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of horticulture or landscaping techniques.
- Experience working in a customer-facing or housing environment.
- Relevant qualifications in horticulture or grounds maintenance.
