First Cook, Pastry (Part-Time)
Job Summary
Reporting to the Culinary Leadership Team responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer professional friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
Prepare bake assemble and present a wide variety of pastry dessert and bakery items according to hotel recipes and standards
Organize and prepare mise en place for daily pastry operations including à la carte service banquet production afternoon tea amenities and other hotel outlets
Ensure the consistency quality and presentation of all pastry items produced
Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of all work areas utensils and equipment
Have full knowledge of all pastry menu items daily features and promotions
Follow kitchen policies procedures and service standards
Ensure all food items are handled stored and labeled properly in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with production planning and support the team in meeting operational needs during both regular and high-volume periods
Support the training and development of junior colleagues when required
Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Previous experience in a professional pastry or culinary environment
Previous luxury hotel or high-volume pastry kitchen experience an asset
Journeymans papers or international equivalent an asset
Diploma/Certification in Pastry Arts or a Culinary discipline an asset
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times
Good knowledge of pastry techniques baking methods chocolate work plated desserts and dessert presentation
Ability to prepare all required mise en place for different areas of the pastry kitchen
Ensure quality standards and safety standards are met consistently
Flexible and able to work a variety of shifts including early mornings evenings weekends and holidays based on operational needs
Additional Information :
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
Occasional kneeling pushing pulling
