Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Field Technician for a new position based in our Sault Ste Marie ON office.

This is a temporary position expected to last approximately 4 months starting in May 2026.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides basic support in the areas of construction administration and inspection activities in support of projects.

  • Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations setting up and operating field survey equipment reading and interpreting contract documents inspecting construction installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining project documentation on a daily basis when on a construction site.

  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality performance specifications and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.

  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.

  • General understanding of procedures company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Performs routine tasks while working under close supervision.

  • Entry-level position previous experience may not be required.


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate or enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technician/Technology program or an equivalent program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of road construction stormwater water distribution systems and /or wastewater collection systems is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Accuracy with details is essential

  • Ability to meticulously review project documentation drawings and specifications to support inspections.

  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently and creatively in the field.

  • Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) to assist with documentation reporting and data management.

  • Engineering students or individuals with a strong interest in engineering are preferred.

  • Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment.

  • Possession of a valid drivers license in Ontario and access to a vehicle.
