ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Assistant Director overseeing SEFE promotes equity inclusion and family engagement across the district. The assistant director will collaborate with district leadership school staff families and interested community partners to create equitable educational opportunities and inclusive environments for all students. Additionally this role will develop strategies and collaborate with district departments and schools to eliminate achievement gaps foster culturally responsive practices and strengthen partnerships between schools and families.
- Support district and school staff in advancing equity-focused initiatives to ensure fair access to academic programs disciplinary practices and resources.
- Collaborate with school and district leaders to assist in identifying supporting and improving the academic and social/emotional growth of all students.
- Assist in analyzing student data to identify disparities and recommend targeted interventions to address inequities based on race ethnicity socioeconomic status language and other factors.
- Help implement programs that promote culturally responsive teaching and reduce barriers to student success.
- Support the design and coordination of programs to enhance family involvement.
- Build relationships with families and community organizations to provide additional support services including after-school programs healthcare access and mental health resources.
- Assist in organizing workshops and resources to help families navigate the school system and advocate for their children.
- Maintain strong communication channels with families through regular updates meetings and translated materials.
- Collaborate with district and school staff to support the delivery of training that strengthens inclusive instructional practices student engagement positive school climate and cultural competence.
- Provide guidance and support to school leaders in implementing equitable practices and addressing family engagement challenges.
- Serve as a resource for staff in developing inclusive and academically rigorous classrooms and school environments.
- Assist in facilitating professional development for staff on culturally responsive teaching implicit bias awareness and equity-centered approaches.
- Support the design and delivery of workshops and learning opportunities to strengthen staff capacity in effective family engagement strategies and cultural competency.
- Respond to staff and family requests promptly demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to service.
- Partner with district departments to support alignment of equity and inclusion initiatives with the District Strategic Plan and District Improvement Plan.
- Collaborate with Teaching Learning and Equity departments to embed equity practices across district functions.
- Support the development of metrics and evaluation systems to assess the effectiveness of equity and family engagement initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze student achievement data to assist in identifying gaps and developing data-informed strategies.
- Prepare reports and summaries for school leadership and district officials regarding family engagement and equity progress.
- Assist in managing budgets monitoring expenditures and ensuring resources are used efficiently in alignment with organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a Washington State administrative credential
- Holds a Washington State teaching credential
- Masters degree
- Minimum of five years of experience as a classroom teacher.
- Previous experience as a building administrator or district office administrator preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong and effective leadership that ensures high standards and professional success.
- Commitment to work as an effective member of the Teaching Learning and Equity team.
- Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students staff parents and community stakeholders.
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks computer competence organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community and to work side by side and foster strong positive relationships with parents staff students and the public.
- Experience developing annual plans such as Title and LAP at the school and district levels.
- Experience in developing and facilitating engaging professional development for staff and a commitment to equity while building a diverse and inclusive school community.
- Knowledge and experience with multi-tiered systems of support.
- Knowledge and experience with applicable federal legislation.
- Knowledge and experience with applicable state legislation.
- Ability to work with staff and administrators.
- Ability to perform and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
