Job Summary
Kroll Agency and Trustee Services (KATS) part of Kroll Business Services provides independent conflict-free third-party agency and trustee services. Servicing the bond and loan markets Kroll has developed its strong reputation by providing proactive and bespoke services to its clients. We currently manage over 1500 loan and bond transactions globally.
As part of Krolls strategic expansion KATS is establishing and scaling its German platform. The Managing Director: Head of KATS Germany will be responsible for building leading and growing the German business with full accountability for strategy revenue governance and team development.
The role is subject to approval by BaFin and appointment as a Managing Director (Geschäftsleiter) of the German regulated entity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate will report into the Global Head of Agency and Trustee Services and will ensure accurate and on-time delivery of all key task items including (but not limited to) the following:
Strategic Growth & Market Development
- In conjunction with the KATS Management Team you will define and execute the German growth strategy aligned with global growth objectives.
- Originate and secure new business mandates across loans bonds escrow restructuring and other agency services.
- Hold full accountability forrevenue profitability and budget for KATS Germany.
- Build and expand strategic relationships with borrowers lenders sponsors law firms financial advisors and other market participants.
- Identify and assess market trends competitor activities and evolving client needs to capture market share and strengthen Krolls positioning.
- Establish KATS as a credible trusted and well-governed independent provider in the German market.
Leadership & People Management
- Recruit lead mentor and grow a high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture while ensuring delivery of commercial objectives.
- Act as a senior voice for KATS within Kroll Germany contributing to firm-wide strategy and execution.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the senior point of contact for key German clients ensuring excellence in service delivery from mandate inception through completion.
- Represent Kroll at conferences industry events and client forums to enhance brand recognition and thought leadership.
- Assist in creating brand recognition and awareness by working closely with marketing and delivery partners to market the full range of Kroll Agency and Trustee Services products and services and create effective strategies for client acquisition and retention.
Governance & Operational Excellence
- Act as a Geschäftsleiter of the German entity subject to BaFin approval with accountability for the effectiveness of governance risk management and internal controls.
- Partner with and support the roll out of Desk Extension model to support the KATS business in Germany and to maintain consistency quality and control in all service delivery.
- Monitor and report on business performance using Salesforce and internal MI systems to track pipeline revenue and performance metrics.
- Ensure that governance risk management and control frameworks are designed and operated proportionately to the size complexity and risk profile of the German business.
- Act as a key point of contact for regulators auditors and internal control functions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven senior leadership experience within regulated financial services ideally within a bank corporate trustee or independent agency/trustee services provider.
- Demonstrable track record of business development and revenue growth including ownership of P&L and market expansion.
- Strong understanding of the German loan and bond markets including restructuring and cross-border transactions.
- Experience operating in a BaFin-regulated environment with the ability to meet Fit & Proper (Geschäftsleiter) requirements.
- Credibility to engage with regulators senior clients and internal stakeholders at executive level.
- Proven ability to recruit develop and retain high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial judgement decision-making capability and resilience in a fast-paced growth environment.
- Board-level understanding of operational resilience outsourcing oversight and ICT risk within a regulated financial services environment.
- Fluency in German and English with the ability to operate credibly with regulators and senior German market participants.
