8 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)
195 Days Per Year(180 student days / 10 holidays / 5 extra work days)
Daily Travel between schools may be required

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Under the guidance of the Director of Student Equity & Family Engagement and in collaboration with the District HEART Liaison for McKinney-Vento and Foster Care this individual is responsible for the facilitation and coordination of services to unaccompanied youth (homeless) including: communicating with and supporting unaccompanied youth in navigating available resources communicating with and obtaining community support; maintaining a data base for reporting impact; completing required programming documentation with high attention to accuracy and efficiency collaborating with school personnel community agencies and students. The Coordinator will provide support to unaccompanied youth in meeting needs that include but are not limited to clothing food shelter on-time graduation assistance career and college planning extracurricular activities and/or other educational offerings health care and other supports as outlined in the McKinney Vento Homeless Education Act and in accordance with the Washington State Homeless Student Stability Grant. This position is grant funded and is dependent on continued grant availability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate effectively with staff students community partners and agencies and the general public in person via telephone e-mail and in writing using a variety of technologies.
- Provide case management services for the school districts unaccompanied youth.
- Provide outreach to better identify and support unaccompanied youth.
- Collaborate effectively and efficiently with school and district personnel community agencies and key stake holders to coordinate services for unaccompanied youth.
- Assess the economic behavioral and emotional needs of unaccompanied youth and provide resource information and referral; provide support in navigating through available resources.
- Compile and prepare data required for reporting to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction specifically including surveys and data points that indicate impact of services and program structure.
- Assist the HEART Liaison for McKinney-Vento and Foster Care in recruitment management and collaboration efforts with program partners to expand offerings for unaccompanied youth and issues of homelessness.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Participate in staff development opportunities appropriate to the position as they become available.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:
Computer/Laptop telephone photocopy machines and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work experience which involves interviewing research and problem-solving expertise.
- Experience working with diverse socioeconomic populations.
- Knowledge of and experience working with community agencies and programs to support unaccompanied youth.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with various groups of people (e.g. students staff community partners and agencies).
- Demonstrated work management skills and the ability to meet tight time lines.
- Demonstrated ability to perform on the computer using Windows environment and related Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn the online student system (WESPaC) in conjunction with the Washington School Information Processing Cooperative (WSIPC).
