Lead Surgical Technologist Certified Harbour View Medical Center
Job Summary:
The Lead Surgical Technologist is an expert level practitioner that assists with patients equipment preparation aseptic technique and surgical procedures in the operating room. They will prepare for surgery by assembling supplies materials instruments and equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Functions as the scrub person during procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
- Provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure and maintains aseptic technique.
- Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instrument for the procedure.
- Assists with cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and necessary instruments.
- Prepares and performs surgical skin prep and clipping as indicated by procedure.
- Checks inventory with Central Processing leaders to ensure the availability of supplies.
- Assists the Director Perioperative Services or designee in the preparation of the fiscal budget planning and communication.
Education:
- Associates Degree Vocational Certification or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required)
Licensure/Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
- Must be certified by one of the following: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) or Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (required)
- Registered Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with the Virginia Board of Medicine (required if currently reside in Virginia)
Experience:
- Two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (required)
