Job Summary
The Operational Tools software team at Zoox is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to help architect and build the critical systems that power our autonomous ride-sharing service. This team operates at the intersection of autonomy operations and user experienceowning the tools that enable safe reliable and scalable fleet operations at production level.
In this role youll go beyond implementation to drive technical direction shape system architecture and influence cross-functional strategy. Youll partner closely with product design QA and operations to deliver robust full-stack solutions spanning fleet monitoring in-vehicle visualization and real-time ride operations. Youll also play a key role in mentoring engineers raising engineering standards and guiding complex projects from concept through deployment.
Your work will have a direct and visible impact on both the day-to-day performance and long-term evolution of Zooxs autonomous platform. This is an opportunity to solve deeply complex real-world problems while helping define how autonomous mobility operates at scale.

In this role you will:
- Architect & own mission-critical systems Lead the design and development of full-stack platforms that power real-time vehicle monitoring operational tooling and live rider support across our autonomous fleet.
- Set technical direction across the stack Act as a technical leader spanning frontend backend and infrastructure driving architecture decisions that ensure scalability reliability and long-term maintainability.
- Lead through influence and mentorship Elevate the team by guiding design discussions providing high-quality code reviews and mentoring engineers to raise the overall technical bar.
- Drive cross-functional innovation Partner closely with product design and operations to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver solutions to complex real-world challenges in autonomous mobility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) with 8 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript including experience building applications with HTML and CSS
- Deep understanding of modern web technologies and architecture including performance scalability and maintainability considerations
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Vue React or Svelte with an eye toward building intuitive high-quality user interfaces
- Proven ability to design and architect large-scale full-stack systems paired with strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively drive alignment and execution across cross-functional teams
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Python or C
- Experience with 3D graphics especially in a web context.
- Familiarity with robotics and 3D spatial reasoning.
$195000 - $305000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
