Job Duties:

A full-time university staff position is available in Housing and Residence Life beginning May 18 2026. The working title for this assignment is Housing Mail Room and Towers Desk Supervisor with an official title of Shipping and Mail Assistant Supervisor. This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. This is a live-on position with a furnished apartment provided.

This position is responsible for the total operation of the Housing mail and package delivery system for just under 4000 students headquartered at the Towers Residence Hall Front Desk. The position will also supervise the student staff of the Towers front desk who provide mail vending and information services to residence hall students. During academic year breaks (fall winter and spring breaks) this position will supervise the on-call staff who provide services while Resident Assistants are off-duty.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with training staff on safety and security procedures
  • Monitors postal inspections and the postal levels on the units postage meter for use in budget projections
  • Assists in the development scheduling inspection and supervision of operational work plans and/or staff for an assigned unit
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to mail and package receipt and delivery
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsible for inventory management and distribution mail and package receipt and delivery and shipping and/or delivery of packages and freight
  • Maintains records and manifests regarding incoming packages location and date of delivery

Department:

The unit of Housing and Residence Life consists of 24 staff members serving just under 4000 residence hall students in 13 residence halls.

Compensation:

The expected hourly hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience with minimum hourly rate of $19.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clean driving record ability to pass annual driving authorization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supervising employees with and creating work schedules.
  • Work hours are typically 7:45 to 4:30 weekdays but employee must have flexibility to cover shifts and ensure uninterrupted service if their employees do not show.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Outlook Word Excel Teams and experience as a user in computer database systems.
  • Proven experience working effectively with a diverse population.
  • High school diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a large-scale corporate mail room mail delivery service or mail carrier distribution room.
  • Associates degree.
