About this unit

3H is a 22 Neuroscience/Spine unit at Blodgett Hospital that specializes in the care of patients admitted with neurological conditions stroke and spinal surgeries such as fusions and laminectomies. Employees are often drawn to 3H for the variety of patients while still having a specialty focus. Our employees become competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients and become experts in the care of patients within our specialties. Specifically our team is known as being experts in stroke and the care of a wide variety of neurological conditions managing the care of wounds drains and post-operative recovery. Additional unique skills that those hired to 3H will learn include utilization of the NIHSS Stroke Scale.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidence-based practice and research quality of practice professional practice evaluation resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
