Technical Author Contract
Location: Dungeness UK (On-site 4-day week)
Contract: 24 months IR35 in scope
Rate: 51.89 per hour (Umbrella)
Security Clearance: BPSS required
We are looking for a skilled Technical Author to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team on-site. You will be responsible for creating managing and maintaining accurate project documentation and close-out records supporting the delivery of complex industrial projects. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail strong document management and the ability to work closely with engineers contractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce format and manage technical and project documentation ensuring high-quality outputs
- Collate archive and maintain project records including Close Out documents
- Support project execution plans design commissioning and handover activities
- Review and approve contractors work instructions method statements and risk assessments
- Liaise with system engineers and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain site configuration control and ensure compliance with company and national engineering standards
- Provide technical supervision where required and support quality health safety and environmental practices
- Identify project functional requirements and support the development of fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
Essential Requirements:
- HNC degree or equivalent (NQF Level 5/6) in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience in a practising mechanical or electrical engineering role on industrial plant
- Nuclear or conventional project engineering experience
- Competent in creating and managing Close Out documents and archiving project records
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint; expert in document formatting
- Competence in Power BI and AI skills would be advantageous
- Quality control mindset with the ability to identify and close gaps in project documentation
- Team player capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplined project team
- Experience liaising with suppliers contractors and internal functions to ensure project documentation is complete
This is a full-time on-site role offering the opportunity to work on complex high-value projects while gaining exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines and project delivery activities.
