Staff Transportation Planner Engineer

We are SLR Consulting (US) a 500 coast-to-coast team of advisory environmental/engineering and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Staff Transportation Planner / Engineer you would be an important part of our Community and Mobility Planning (CAMP) team.

Role

This role is responsible for the preparation of draft transportation planning and traffic engineering studies and reports as well as supporting the preparation of design plans. Projects include private development/traffic impact studies public-sector mobility planning work as well as our safe streets active transportation parking management TDM and smart growth studies.

This position is located in New Haven Connecticut. Hybrid arrangements could be allowed for up to 2 days per week.

Preparation of plans studies and analyses
Adherence to project schedules

Adherence to project budget constraints
Collaborating across disciplines
Ability and willingness to learn and initiative and desire to understand concepts

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

Bachelors Degree in Transportation Engineering or Planning or related field
EIT or similar certification or ability to obtain in 1-2 years
The desire and ability to research present and convey information clearly and concisely
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Familiarity with HCS SYNCHRO/SimTraffic VISSIM CADD GIS software is desirable
Some familiarity with emerging best practices in transportation

Some familiarity with local state and federal guidelines/standards and policies is desirable
Valid drivers license
Critical thinker with strong communication skills
Efficient thorough detail-oriented and dedicated to quality work
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
