The Chebib PKD Research and Therapeutics Laboratory in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Mayo Clinic Florida is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary program focused on the development of novel therapies for genetic kidney diseases with particular emphasis on autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
The laboratory integrates molecular biology gene therapy and translational disease models to identify and advance therapeutic strategies targeting fundamental mechanisms of cystogenesis and kidney injury.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects centered on gene delivery platforms including adeno-associated virus and lipid nanoparticle systems with the goal of developing next generation therapeutic approaches for monogenic kidney diseases.
The fellow will design and conduct experimental studies involving vector engineering nucleic acid delivery and mechanistic evaluation of gene and RNA-based therapies in cellular and preclinical models.
Responsibilities will include molecular cloning vector production and characterization evaluation of transgene expression and pathway modulation and integration of functional assays relevant to kidney epithelial biology.
The position offers opportunities to collaborate with investigators across Mayo Clinic in areas including gene therapy regenerative medicine metabolomics and advanced imaging and to contribute to projects that bridge mechanistic discovery with translational therapeutic development. It also provides access to state of the art research infrastructure and the opportunity to contribute to innovative programs
aimed at advancing therapies for inherited kidney diseases.
Qualified candidates should hold a PhD or MD/PhD in molecular biology gene therapy pharmacology biomedical engineering or a related discipline.
Experience with viral vector systems such as AAV lipid nanoparticle mediated nucleic acid delivery or gene editing technologies is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong experimental skills scientific independence and the ability to work collaboratively in a translational research environment.
Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
