Job Description

Finance Planning and Budgeting (FPB) encompasses the major central financial planning analytical and budgeting functions for the University of Washington including:

  • Financial Stewardship & Operations

  • Institutional Analytics & Decision Support

  • Policy Planning & State Operations

  • University Business Services

Within FPBthe Management Accounting & Analysis (MAA) divisionis responsible foroverseeing the Fringe Benefit and Facilities & Administrative Rates and related compliance activities. MAA is seeking a Business Analyst / Project Manager (BA/PM) to lead and support complex crossfunctional financial and operational initiatives. This role blends analytical expertise project management and strategic partnership to translate business needs into actionable requirements and guide the delivery of highquality solutions.

Key initiatives include;

  • FY28 Benefit Load Rates (BLR) refinements

  • Updates to UWs internal disclosure statement(Service & Recharge Center Facilities & Administrative)

  • Implementation of key Service and Recharge operational improvements including the rollout of the alternative cost center hierarchy custom validation (CCH CV)

  • Development of a compliant Program Income lifecycle program

Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead datarelated projects from initiation through implementation

  • Develop project plans timelines risk registers and communication materials

  • Coordinate work across technical and business teams and track progress

  • Prepare leadership updates and decisionsupport materials

  • Support postimplementation reviews and process improvements

Business Analysis

  • Facilitate requirements gathering with stakeholders and subjectmatter experts.

  • Translate business needs into clear data reporting and process requirements.

  • Document current/future workflows and support solution design and testing.

  • Analyze financial and operational data to inform modeling reporting and decisionmaking.

  • Support change management through communication training and documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality reporting and process efficiency.

This position plays a critical role in strengthening financial transparency data integrity and institutional effectiveness across MAA and FPB.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business accounting information systems data or computer science or a related field and four years of experience as a Business Analyst Project Manager or in a hybrid BA/PM role focused on technical or data-driven projects

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for a degree

  • Experience delivering complex cross-solutions including reporting analytics dashboards or data infrastructure improvements

  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and sponsored programs compliance (federal awards research administration); OR equivalent experience with governmental/financial regulatory frameworks (e.g. tax law financial compliance audit standards)

  • Proficiencywith project management tools such as Smartsheet Jira or Microsoft Project and the ability to produce project artifacts including charters timelines risk registers and communication plans

  • Ability to translate business needs into functional and technical requirements workflows and clear documentation

  • Experience with data validation QA and UAT plus proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Visio)

  • Welldeveloped analytical and problemsolving abilities with attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences

  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups and teams; create a culture of inclusion and equity throughout the team while supporting the overall culture of FPB

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$87984.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$120000.00 annual
