Position Overview
SCOPE OF ROLE:
At Services for the Underserved (S:US) our Talent Acquisition team is on the front lines of our mission connecting people who care deeply about others with the programs and communities that need them most. As a member of the Support Services function the Human Resources department exists to resource support and empower every program across the organization grounded in the belief that a great employee experience starts from day one.
We are looking for a driven people-first Recruiter to join our team and play a key role in attracting and hiring the talent that powers our this role you will manage a full requisition load across assigned programs build strong relationships with hiring managers and ensure that every candidate who comes through our process feels seen respected and informed. You will work closely with the Talent Acquisition Manager and broader HR team to execute recruiting strategies maintain a healthy talent pipeline and contribute to an experience that reflects the values of S:US.
This is a role for someone who is organized proactive and energized by the challenge of high-volume recruiting in a mission-driven environment. If youre passionate about connecting people to meaningful work and take pride in doing the details right wed love to meet you.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Midtown Manhattan office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
High Volume Recruiting
Perform high-volume full-cycle recruitment for assigned programs including sourcing screening interviewing processing background checks and extending and negotiating employment offers.
Manage an active requisition load across multiple program areas prioritizing effectively to meet hiring timelines and staffing needs.
Source candidates through a variety of channels including job boards social media platforms community organizations and employee referrals.
Screen and refer qualified applicants to hiring managers by matching education experience and salary requirements with specific job requirements.
Coordinate confirm and review necessary new hire onboarding documents with candidates ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to start date.
Resolve issues related to background checks PPD and fingerprinting through Justice Center OPWDD and third-party vendors escalating to the Talent Acquisition Manager as needed.
Ensure all applicants are accurately tracked within iCIMS and released from The Justice Center database when not hired or terminated.
Remain current with OPWDD/Justice Center compliance requirements by actively participating in training and staying informed of regulatory updates.
Partnerships
Build and maintain strong working relationships with hiring managers across assigned programs through consistent communication routine check-ins and reliable follow-through.
Visit program locations regularly to meet with managers and staff gaining a deeper understanding of program culture staffing challenges and role-specific needs.
Partner with the Talent Acquisition Manager to align recruiting activity with program priorities flagging capacity concerns or pipeline gaps in a timely manner.
Collaborate with HR colleagues HRIS Payroll and external partners such as hiring agencies placement firms and colleges to support a smooth end-to-end hiring process.
Participate in sourcing events including career fairs open houses campus interviews and community days to expand S:USs candidate reach.
Support the coordination of the organizations internship program as needed.
Candidate Experience
Provide a respectful timely and engaging candidate experience at every stage of the hiring process ensuring applicants feel informed and valued regardless of outcome.
Maintain proactive and consistent communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process setting clear expectations around next steps and timelines.
Represent S:USs mission and values in every candidate interaction serving as an ambassador for the organization and the communities it serves.
Ensure all candidates regardless of hiring outcome leave the process with a positive impression of S:US as an organization that leads with dignity and care.
Advertising & Sourcing
Develop and post accurate compelling job advertisements across approved platforms including Indeed LinkedIn employment agencies colleges and professional associations ensuring all postings reflect the mission and culture of S:US.
Actively engage on social media networks and online platforms to identify and attract qualified candidates for open positions.
Support outreach efforts to community organizations schools and professional networks to build diverse and sustainable talent pipelines.
Monitor posting performance and share observations with the Talent Acquisition Manager to inform sourcing strategy adjustments.
Metrics & Reporting
Track and maintain accurate recruiting data within iCIMS ensuring all candidate activity requisition status and hiring outcomes are up to date at all times.
Report on recruiting activity and pipeline status to the Talent Acquisition Manager on a regular basis including time-to-fill progress open requisitions and any barriers to placement.
Contribute to team-level reporting by providing accurate data and timely updates that support broader TA metrics and reporting to leadership.
KEY PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Communication Communicate clearly and professionally with candidates hiring managers and HR colleagues at all times. Keep all stakeholders informed of recruiting progress set realistic expectations and follow through on commitments. Written and verbal communication should reflect the values and professionalism of S:US.
Candidate Experience Treat every candidate with respect and care throughout the hiring process. Ensure timely outreach honest communication and a consistent experience that reflects S:USs commitment to dignity and inclusion regardless of hiring outcome.
Interviewing & Assessment Conduct structured equitable and thorough candidate screenings and interviews. Ask purposeful questions that surface relevant skills and experience apply consistent evaluation criteria and make informed recommendations to hiring managers.
Partnerships & Customer Service Build trusted service-oriented relationships with hiring managers across assigned programs. Anticipate needs respond to requests in a timely manner and approach every interaction with a collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.
Organization & Follow-Through Manage a high-volume requisition load with accuracy and attention to detail. Stay on top of deadlines maintain clean and up-to-date records in iCIMS and proactively communicate when timelines or priorities shift.
Problem Solving Approach recruiting obstacles with resourcefulness and a solutions-oriented mindset. Identify barriers early bring potential solutions to the Talent Acquisition Manager and adapt quickly in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
Compliance Maintain a working knowledge of all regulatory requirements governing the hiring process including OPWDD OASAS OMH SEL and DHS. Adhere to compliance standards complete required training and flag any concerns to the Talent Acquisition Manager promptly.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Human Resources Communications or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum of 23 years of full-cycle recruiting experience preferably in a nonprofit human services healthcare or clinical environment.
Experience managing a high-volume requisition load across multiple programs or departments.
Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems; experience with iCIMS strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of sourcing techniques including job boards social media and community-based outreach.
Solid understanding of interviewing best practices and candidate evaluation techniques.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience recruiting for Behavioral Health programs including familiarity with clinical licensing requirements and compliance considerations.
Familiarity with Justice Center OPWDD and background check processes in a human services or nonprofit setting.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities without sacrificing quality or candidate experience.
