A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader (Any Profession) to serve as SO2 Specialist Recruitment Team Chief of Staff at RAF Recruiting and Selection RAF Cranwell on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 07 September 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).
Unit and Area Roles. RAF R&S attracts recruits and selects the diverse people required to meet the RAFs operational requirements. The Recruiting Force helps to attract applicants delivers their aptitude testing and interviews and provides motivation advice and support until they enter Phase One training.
Post Role. Direct and deliver data driven initiatives to engage and recruit the highest calibre personnel for the areas of the Service that have been traditionally hard to attract to. This role is responsible for leading a team of military and Civil Service personnel currently representing 9 Professions across the Service. As COS SRT you will be overseeing coherence of a wide range of marketing engagement and analytical outputs whilst sharing best practice across the teams.
Responsibilities. Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Lead and support the SRTs in the achievement of the Into Training Requirements (ITRs) for each Recruiting Year.
- Manage 9 profession specific SRTs and coordinate their working practices while encouraging best practice across all.
- Ensure all SRTs are working to achieve maximum workforce inflow through a series of varied and innovative data led initiatives.
- Regularly engage with the respective Profession Advisory Teams to mutually support each others output.
- At the SO2 level support the RF Cdr with additional capacity and flex workforce where appropriate to support their tasks.
- Work collaboratively with the Careers Engagement Team to support their outputs and provide profession specific events.
- Coordinate profession specific content and media capture in support of the R&S Attract Pillar.
- Maintain a strong SRT coordination schedule and identify articulate and transfer risks where appropriate.
- Work with the respective Profession Advisory Teams for the transition of SRT output in line with AFR implementation.
