Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Accountant Technician to support complex accounting operations for a State agency. This position is responsible for maintaining and monitoring financial records performing reconciliations and handling specialized accounting transactions with a high level of independence. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge and experience working within complex financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor accounting records across multiple accounts and systems
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Process and adjust accounting entries as needed
- Support budget tracking cost allocation and fund accounting activities
- Assist with federal grant reporting and external financial reporting requirements
- Utilize spreadsheets and accounting software for data analysis and reporting
- Research and resolve accounting issues that require independent judgment
- Supervise or provide guidance to lower-level accounting or clerical staff as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience in accounting finance or a related field
- Strong understanding of complex accounting functions and systems
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software
- Ability to analyze data identify issues and implement solutions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
