ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ABA SERVICES
Definition
The Assistant Director (AD) of ABA Services is responsible for coordinating the operation of the RBT Services Program of the ABA Services Department. This position is also responsible for developing implementing and training employees to implement behavior support plans for persons served. This individual will conduct functional assessments and skills assessments analyze observational and staff-collected data and will assist with intervention and therapeutic program evaluations. This individual is also responsible for providing training for staff members on implementing general and client-specific positive behavior supports.
The Assistant Director of ABA Services must have excellent reasoning analytical and communication skills. A strong attention to detail patience and perseverance are paramount but it is also important this individual be an empathetic emotionally stable leader. The Assistant Director of ABA Services must be able to make behavioral recommendations that are data and research-based.
The Assistant Director of ABA Services will work with clients that may have Autism Spectrum Disorders Developmental Disabilities and/or Mental Illness; these individuals may exhibit impulsive behaviors poor decision-making and verbal/physical aggression. This individual will use behavioral observation and assessment and crisis intervention and prevention skills daily. This individual must be able to provide support to such individuals by developing effective positive behavior support plans and consequential training on such interventions. This is a salaried exempt position.

Personnel Management | Supervises Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) ABA Specialists Fieldwork students and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). |
Evaluates work performance and attendance in RBT Services with Lead RBT. | |
Supervision duties also include utilization of the least restrictive effective interventions and monitoring all client data for recipients of RBT services. | |
Program Oversight Design and Development | Develop training and systems for RBT services and ensure RBTs are trained on policies with Lead RBT. |
Develop objective behavioral definitions team wide data collection systems and client specific data collection systems. | |
Develop and help implement individualized behavior support plans (BSPs). | |
Develop treatment integrity checklists and monitor staff members use of skills. | |
Monitor treatment integrity with which BSPs and general positive behavior supports are implemented. | |
Quality Assurance and Compliance | Maintain client behavior databases and provide information to the appropriate Management Personnel as needed. |
Graphically represent behavioral data and provide the necessary graphs to Program Supervisors and Program Directors as needed. | |
Maintain treatment integrity databases and provide feedback to supervisors as needed. | |
Modify and update BSPs based on client changes behavioral observations staff observations and behavioral data. | |
Leadership and Communication | Provide leadership and direction to all aspects of the RBT Services Department and employees. |
Effectively communicates and provides training to all levels of organizational staff on the principles and techniques of ABA. | |
Program Operations and Training | Provide staff training on applied behavior analysis and consequential treatment interventions. |
Perform functional behavior assessments. | |

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities |
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Ability to work with and respect persons with intellectual disabilities and otherdevelopmental disabilities. Ability to work varied and flexible hours and to accept and adapt to changes inassignments methods policies etc. Considerable knowledge of modern positive behavior support principles and practices and cognitive behavior management techniques as they apply to habilitation programming for those with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities. Considerable knowledge of the behavioral sciences and allied disciplines involved in the evaluation care and habilitation of persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities. Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision and training as applied to habilitational programming. Ability to plan coordinate and adapt a variety of habilitation program activities to meet the specialized needs abilities and conditions of each programparticipant. Considerable knowledge of community-based programs of all disciplines for the care and the treatment of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Ability to direct coordinate and supervise harmoniously the work of professional and non-professional employees. Ability to assign direct and review the work of subordinate staff involved in theimplementation of habilitation programs. Ability to collect and analyze information in making decisions concerning treatment foreach individual resident. Ability to evaluate the progress of individuals served and the quality of a variety of habilitation programs. Ability to develop effective and practical individual habilitation plans and relatedprogram procedures. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with programparticipants subordinates and other facility staff. Ability to work as a direct contact staff with individuals served to demonstrate needed behavior for direct contact staff. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Boards standards and the Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Boards regulations. Actively participates as a member of a committee and all associated responsibilities; or teaches a class as designated by the training department. A licensed and insured driver with ability to drive for work purposes. |
Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications |
Six years of professional experience in working with persons with intellectual disabilities or mental illness. Specific experience with individuals with psychiatric disorders is required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a masters degree with a specialization in one of the following: special education early childhood education psychology social work sociology or counseling. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and licensure as a Missouri Licensed Behavior Analyst. Completion of an 8-hour Supervision training approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Previous management experience preferred. |

The Assistant Director must be adaptable and able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with a strong work are able to delegate effectively and demonstrate solid time management skills. The Assistant Director should be open to feedback possess a growth mindset and a willingness to share information in regard to services provided with the ABA department to all involved parties. |
